Interview with MARBL

MARBL

The artist’s new Single ‘Never Get Out’ is out now

MARBL is a singer-songwriter based in Tel Aviv. Lately, I had the pleasure to chat with her about her last two love-inspired singles and music video and future plans.

HELLO MARBL, TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR LAST RELEASE ‘NEVER GET OUT’ AND YOUR STORY SO FAR.

Hello Loop Solitaire,

“Never Get Out” is the most honest and sincere song I have ever written by far.

I poured all my thoughts, tears, smiles, aches, memories and truth out.

It all started with that image of this special person, who never got thin enough to leave through the door to his room in my heart.

Then, I started rambling in my mind, and on a piece of paper.

This one was a fast track birth.

IN THE MUSIC VIDEO OF ‘NEVER GET OUT’ A COUPLE’S RELATIONSHIP IS COMPARED TO CLOUDS THAT CHANGE BASED ON THEIR MOOD OR POINT IN THE RELATIONSHIP. HOW’S YOUR STATE OF MIND DURING THE DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF A RELATIONSHIP WITH SOMEONE AND HOW THIS INFLUENCES YOUR MUSIC AND LYRICS?

I’m emotionally devoted. When I truly love someone, I try to do everything we can to keep this relationship.

I also believe that in spite of what I want to believe, love, sometimes, isn’t enough to carry the weights. I think that this was the first time I realised that.

There are always clouds above our heads, grey, white, full or empty, Tomer Levi, the video creator, knows perfectly how to bind the things we have already known and felt and create them an image.

YOU RELEASED A HEART-TOUCHING MUSIC VIDEO FOR YOUR PREVIOUS SINGLE ‘IT’S ALWAYS OUR O’CLOCK SOMEWHERE’. WHAT’S THE ROLE OF THIS “PORTABLE” SUN IN THIS AMAZING SHORT FILM?

The sun stands for love.

When you take the sun and hand it to someone, you give them all your world, all your life. When the sun sets, it seems and feels like the end of the world – and it actually is the end of the world, for that time being.

Then, comes the morning, and our heart is open for a new “day”, a new adventure, a new energy, new flames, and we start over, again. I think life is all about that enchanting cycle.

WHAT ARE THE ARTISTS AND BANDS THAT INSPIRED YOUR SOUND THE MOST?

I love and find inspiration in everything. One of those things are music of course.

Lately I find myself listening to Jose Gonzales, Gregory Alan Isakov, Iron & Wine, Lizzy Mcalpine, Big Thief, and more.

WHAT WAS THE MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE THAT YOU DECIDED TO BE A PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN AND TO PURSUE A MUSIC CAREER?

I can’t remember a moment when I haven’t actively decided that.

HOW’S THE CURRENT MUSIC SCENE IN TEL AVIV, AND HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR MUSIC PROJECT RELATES TO IT?

There’s a great music scene in Tel-Aviv, ranging from EDM through Hip-Hop, Jazz, Alternative music to Singer-Songwriters and Folk scene.

I think the coolest thing is that they’re weaved together beautifully, and I grasp myself as a part of this colorful painting.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR?

I will complete my third album, releasing its songs and videos, will start working on the next one, and tour, of course.

Writing new songs comes without saying, hah? 😉

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD?

I would like to wish you, the readers, myself and all the people we know and love – a better, healthier and fulfilling year, with new inspiration, new dreams, and new love.
